SHILLONG: Lockdown may be a problem for daily commuters but the delivery men of Swiggy are zooming on empty roads to deliver food on time.
Online food delivery company Swiggy resumed its service in the city on Thursday.
The delivery boys whom The Shillong Times spoke to said they are not facing any problem in the lockdown.
Sandeep Kumar Dey, a delivery boy, said, “There is no problem for us now as roads are empty and we are able to deliver food on time. Earlier, traffic congestion was a problem.”
All food delivery services across the country have begun aggressive customer outreach campaigns to reassure people on their safety and hygiene standards.
However, orders have taken a hit following the imposition of lockdown. Dey’s colleague Rahul Barua said his orders have been affected following the lockdown. “Earlier, I was getting around 20 orders a day but now there are only 10-12 orders,” he added.
