12-hour Garo Hills bandh today

 TURA: In view of 12-hour bandh called the ANVC’s breakaway faction, West Garo Hills administration has directed all the government employees to attend their offices on Tuesday.

The breakaway faction of the A’chik National Volunteers Council (ANVC) has called for a 12-hour bandh on July 24 to protest the recent killing of innocent civilians.

In an official order, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner P Bakshi directed all the government employees within Tura Municipal area to attend to their duties and maintain normal functioning of all government offices.

He informed that transportation will be provided at designated locations for commuters to and from their respective offices and directed all offices to furnish their attendance at the Deputy Commissioner’s office by 12 noon.

Bakshi has cautioned that unauthorized and willful absence will be deemed as participation in anti-government agitation.

The bandh will effective from 5 am to 5pm in the three districts of Garo Hills.

The militant group also condemned the recent killing of two innocent school teachers and other civilians and the firing incident at Williamnagar, the district of East Garo Hills by its rival group the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA).
