SHILLONG: Urban Affairs Minister Hamlet Dohling said that he has spoken to the police in the Special Branch to conduct an investigation into an inflammatory letter written by a couple of persons from outside the state who made indecent comments against Khasi women.
He said copies of the letter were also sent to him. “Whatever they have written is very unpleasant and unacceptable,” Dohling said.
He said that that the two persons addressed the letter to the general secretary of KSU Donald Thabah. The letter is also in circulation in the social media with the contents that are provocative and hurting the sentiments of the people as it has brought about disrepute to the dignity of local women.
“I strongly criticise the cowards; their writings are to incite the young and nobody will sit idle when they come across such writings against the women”, he said.
The letter was written to the KSU about the role of the Union in its demand for Inner Line Permit. Dohling said it is not acceptable for people from outside the state to interfere in matters of the state.
The minister said he had told the Police to go to the bottom of it and bring the culprits to justice.
