SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (NHYF) on Monday demanded that East Khasi Hills District Transport Officer (DTO) Chimborlin Nongbri be relieved from his post.
In a letter submitted to State Transport Minister AT Mondal on Monday, the HNYF said there were various complaints from the people against the DTO who has failed to perform his duties properly.
According to the HNYF, the DTO is overburdened with official responsibilities which have cut his working hours to the minimum.
The organisation also stated that this has resulted in partial functioning of the office and non-clearance of necessary papers like vehicle permits and driving licenses.
“He should be relieved from the post and other alternatives should be implemented so that the Transport department functions normally,” the letter submitted to Mondal stated.
