SHILLONG: MLP FT overpowered defending SPL champs Royal Wahingdoh on Monday, beating them 2-1 in a high intensity match.

MLP proved deadly as they displayed a more tactical performance. This was also MLP’s second win this season against Wahingdoh. However, the Royals also posed quite a few problems, especially early on in the second half.

MLP’s star striker Niwan-O-Gatphoh impressed once again as he scored his side’s first goal in the 25th minute after accepting a beautiful long pass; the last time he played against Royal Wahingdoh, he scored a memorable hat-trick.

But just two minutes into the second half, Royal’s striker Bickyson equalised after a cross from Milancy allowed him to place the ball past the goalie.

Bickyson had other chances, his first in the 39th minute when he missed a simple chance and four minutes later when a powerful shot went wide.

His last chance was in the 88th minute when he narrowly missed a header.

MLP’s second goal came in the 74th minute through a beautiful strike by Plassing Myrthong saw the ball fly past keeper Kunzang.
