Death anniversary
Shrimanta Sankardev Cultural Centre, Bishnupur will observe the tithi (death anniversary) of Mahapurush Sankardev. To mark the occasion, a colourful programme will be held at Deve Kumar Das Memoruial Hall on August 18 which will be presided by the local MLA Manas Chaudhuri.
Book release
Heritage Shillong, a unique book containing historical facts and photographs of a number of mansions, monuments, religious sites and roads of Shillong will be ceremonially released today (Saturday) at 4:30PM at Shri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture, Shillong. Written by historian and eminent writer Prof (L) Dipankar Banerjee, the book is being published by Jeewan Ram Mungi Devi Goenka Public Charitable Trust.
Seminar held
The Disease Investigation and Disease Surveillance wing of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary on Friday conducted a one day seminar in the city. The theme of the seminar was “Emerging and Re-emerging zoonotic disease-one way health approach.”
Eid celebrations
The Shillong Muslim Union has informed that the Eid-ul-Fitre prayers will be held on Monday at different mosques and eid gahs of the state.
