TURA: Having witnessed the devastation caused by last month’s floods in the Tikrikilla region where peoples’ homes in Lower Paham village were waterlogged for thirteen long days compelling its inhabitants to wade through dirty water everyday leading to widespread skin infections, a church backed non-governmental organization has stepped in to provide some help, this week.

Members of the Muktidata Multipurpose Cooperative Society extended a helping hand to 397 families living in and around Paham village with the active support of Muktidata Tribal Welfare Society and the Mahila Morcha.

The inhabitants of Lower Paham village, which faced water logging for two weeks, were provided with disinfectant phenol, dettol soap, a face mask, cadles and biodegradable arecanut food plates for use.

Director and priest Fr Benoy mentioned that an outbreak of skin infections began in the village soon after the flood waters had receded and as part of the relief programme an awareness drive was also conducted about the modes of infection not just on skin diseases but the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19.
