Nasha-Mukt campaign held in Tura

TURA: Stressing on the importance of staying away from narcotics, the Nasha-Mukt Campaign took off in Tura on Wednesday with a holding special programme for adults and children at Balading locality.
Organised by the NGO, Adil Gandhian Society, and supported by the West Garo Hills district administration and the state Social Welfare department, the participants were provided with visuals and data about drug addiction and the ways to avoid the menace.
A PowerPoint presentation highlighting the various manners of addiction, medical steps to wean away an addict off drugs, and preventive measures was given by Andrew Lakiang, a senior member of Adil Gandhian Society, during the programme.
Raising concern about drug abuse, participants were informed on the fast-spreading of drug addiction in Tura with the youths becoming more vulnerable.
Steps to eradicate this menace were also highlighted during the programme.
A drawing competition was also organised under the theme of drug addiction during the programme.
