Clarification
The state government has clarified that the Cabinet decision on the proposal for amendment of Rule 12 of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority Rules, 1998, relates to the income ceiling of the persons who are entitled for free legal aids services from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, read with Rule 12 of the MSLSA Rules, 1998, wherein a person whose annual income from all sources does not exceed Rs lakh, shall be entitled to Legal Aid Services under the Legal Services Authorities. It does not relate to the salary/entitlements of the members of the State Legal Services Authority.

The officers and staff of Meghalaya Rural Bank, under the banner of Joint Council of Meghalaya Rural Bank Unions will hold a strike on December 11.
