TURA, March 30: South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ch Ramakrishna Chitturi on Tuesday asked people to monitor online activities of their children and ensure that they are not exposed to unhealthy online contents, which can have a detrimental impact on their mental health.
Chitturi was speaking during the inaugural programme of a special District Counseling Centre at Ampati Civil Hospital on Tuesday.
Maintaining that counselling is the best remedy for mental health problems, Chitturi said the new centre will help the locals greatly by relieving them of the hassle of travelling all the way to Tura to seek such services.
With regard to the menace of substance abuse, he asked everyone to report to the department concerned if they come across any such activities or even opium cultivation.
Others who spoke during the programme include District Medical & Health Oyfficer LS Ch Marak, District Nodal Officer, District Mental Health Program, Dr Matgrik Sangma, among others.
It was also informed that the visiting hours to the centre have been fixed between 10 am and 2 pm.
