400 villagers benefitted by free health check-up camp

 KHLIEHRIAT: Over 400 villagers including men, women and children of Wahiajer (Narpuh) and Thangskai villages were examined and treated at a free Health Check-up Camp organised by Dalmia Bharat Enterprises Limited (Previously Adhunik Cements) at Thangskai Community Hall on Saturday.

A team of four doctors including former Jt. Director DHS, Dr. (Mrs) EM Dhar, Dr. C Dhar, Dr. D. Shylla and a dentist Dr. N. Py. Mawrie conducted the free health camp besides other para-medical staff.

The president Dalmia Bharat Cements, N Padmanabhaia who inaugurated the health camp said, “As you all know that the Adhunik Cement was taken over by Dalmia Bharat Enterprises Limited and social service is part of their business. The health camp today is the only beginning and definitely more services will be provided to the villagers in the near future”.

The Rangbah shnong and other village elders were also present in the free medical camp.

According to the Thangskai Rangbah Shnong, Morit Swer the people of the area has welcomed the Dalmia Bharat Cements with great expectations.

“We know that Dalmia Bharat Enterprises Limited is a big company and we hope that the company will help us in various developmental activities”, he said.

The Rangbah Shnong informed that before the taking over of the cement plant by Dalmia Bharat Cement, Adhunik have taken various activities for the welfare of the people such as, water supply, electricity bills, development, employment opportunities, ambulance services and even help in construction of church and school buildings.

“For promoting the youth in the area in sports activities, the Cement plant has conducted a year long coaching for a team of footballers. All expenditures involved including salary of a football coach and other is borne by the company”, General Manager (C&F), Pawan Joshi said, adding that the company will continues its services toward the local people with a special focus on their health and education. “Education is very poor in this area”, he said.
