M’laya gets two modern ambulances

SHILLONG, May 18: National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), on Tuesday handed over two units of state-of-the-art Advance Life Support Ambulance to the state government.
Health Minister AL Hek received the keys of the two ambulances from Col Narendra Sheoran, Executive Director (P), NHIDCL regional office, Shillong.
The ambulances are the latest model and fully air-conditioned.
Apart from 50 basic medicines and first-aid dressing items, the ambulances are equipped with automatic stretcher, portable and fitted oxygen device, thermometer, stethoscope, oximeter, blood pressure monitor, automatic external defibrillator, two-way radio, automatic vehicle tracker with GPS, intercom and video cameras in the rear and the driver’s cabin.
The vehicles are also equipped with rescue items like hammer, shovel, hydraulic cutter, public address system, personnel protection equipment, blanket and portable fire extinguishers.
These ambulances will be deployed by the state government on highways and can go a long way in providing immediate first aid to accident victims and rescue persons in distress during natural calamities.
Furthermore, the NHIDCL is also in the process of purchasing ten more basic ambulances which it will hand over to the state government to fight COVID-19.
