MAWKYRWAT, July 5: The Seng Samla Shnong Mawkyrwat has alleged that the Wahsala river at Mawkyrwat, which caters to the people from different villages, has been reportedly polluted with human waste.
The Seng Samla Shnong said that they received information about some people from Mawkyrwat dumping human waste from a septic tank in the wee hours of Sunday.
Giving vent to his resentment, president of the Seng Samla Shnong Mawkyrwat, Kitborsing Lyngdoh, said, “These people need to be condemned as they have no conscience for other people and the society as a whole. It has also posed a grave danger to the health of the people from Mawkyrwat area, who are dependent on this river for bathing, washing, and especially the people from other villages who rely on this river for drinking water.”
Cautioning people against polluting the rivers and streams in Mawkyrwat, he said, “We will enquire and find out the people involved in this incident and strong action will be taken. We will even file a complaint so that the law will take its own course. This will also send a strong message to others.”
