NONGSTOIN: In a major breakthrough, SWAT personnel from Shallang Police Station and East Garo Hills rescued the Nokma (Headman) of Jogisil Village from Shallang in West Khasi Hills, on Wednesday.
The Nokma –Hegimson Momin — was abducted on November30 by suspected cadres of the banned LAEF.During the operation, the LAEF cadres fired at the police team which forced the commandoes to retaliate. After 10-15 minutes of firing the LAEF cadres left the scene leaving the Nokma there.
