NONGPOH: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF), Nongpoh Circle seized over a thousand litre of illicit liquor which was being sold illegally in Nongpoh. This was seized by the HNYF members from Nongpoh, Pahamrioh and Marngar from December 22, 2012 to January 2.
HNYF vice president, Marcus Marten, informed the media, that the organization had previously issued a strong warning to all liquors dens and wine stores operating in Nongpoh Town to abstain from selling of liquor during the Christmas festival and New Year but most of the wine dens did not respect and pay heed to this warning, therefore, the members of the organization conducted checking and seized over a thousand litres of illegal liquors.
“The organization seized over a hundred litres of local khasi made liquors, IMLF, beer and others. The members also apprehended one local cab ML 10 A 6596 indulging in transporting liquor from Byrnihat”, said Marten.
