Nongbri, who left his job as Development Officer of Meghalaya Co-operative Bank Ltd, stated that he had decided to join politics and contest the election owing to the backwardness of the constituency in terms of infrastructure development.

“Development in the area has been stagnant and we need change. For this we need new leaders and representatives and a chance should be given to a new party to work for the betterment of the people of the area,” Nongbri said.

The NNP candidate will be contesting against Congress nominee and former Assembly Speaker Martin M Danggo, among other candidates.
