Poll trucks

Decorated trucks will roll shortly in parts of the State with election songs which will include the parody of the hit Kolaveri Di and jingles to create awareness among the people on the need to vote by the Election Department.

While one truck will be used in Khasi Hills, another one will be plying in Garo Hills.

West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi said that the truck will move to higher secondary schools and colleges besides market places in the district.

As far as the political party NPP is concerned, two hi-tech buses are being used by its leaders, PA Sangma and Conrad Sangma, for election campaign.

The party claimed that the buses have facilities like sleeping space, kitchen and bath rooms.

Elevators are also fixed to the buses so that the candidates can land up in the stage to address the gathering.

Marriage of Democracy

The West Garo Hills District administration will rope in a marriage band party prior to the election with an intention to drum up enthusiasm among the voters.

“We are sure that people of Tura town will come out to see the dressed up bride and bridegroom and the band party, but the band party will only communicate that this is a season of marriage of democracy and hence there is a reason to celebrate,” West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi said.

Turncoats

Some poor voters have become turncoats as they are seen moving with different political parties. The situation arises when the voters are known to the leaders of various political parties and they are sandwiched as they cannot but show their presence felt in the crowd which accompanies the leaders who are now busy in filing nominations.
