SHILLONG, Jan 20: All pharmacies and medical stores in East Khasi Hills selling scheduled ‘H, H1 or X drugs’ have been directed by the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills to install CCTV cameras inside and outside the respective establishments as per Rules 65 of Drugs and Cosmetics Act & Rules, 1945. The DC has given a month’s deadline to install the CCTV cameras.
According to the DC’s order, the CCTV footages may be randomly checked by the District Drug Controller Authority/CWPO at any given moment. “In case any medical/pharmacy shop fails to comply with the order, appropriate action shall be taken by the DC against such person/owner as empowered under relevant portions of law,” the order stated.
