SHILLONG, Jan 20: The state president of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Charles Pyngrope has called for a crusade against unemployment, poverty, sickness and divisive intentions as Meghalaya celebrates its 50th year of statehood.
“We must counter these evils with inclusiveness, equality, sustainability, a sense of trusteeship, and covenantal leadership. This is a forward for a reinvigorated Meghalaya, a resurgent India, and a rejuvenated planet,” he said on Thursday.
He also called upon people from all walks of life, government leaders, educational shepherds, policy architects, corporate chieftains, and all families to join hands to enhance the lives of the people of the state.
According to him, the literacies and competencies of the future are presently not being addressed in the classrooms or boardrooms.
Pyngrope said Meghalaya was once the iconic epicentre of learning excellence. With leadership that has the humility to learn and learners attuned to leading, Meghalaya can resurrect herself into pre-eminence.
“Eminent members of the government will have a huge role to play in this journey. The resurrection of Meghalaya’s pre-eminence is our collective responsibility; we must pledge to make it a reality,” he said.
The AITC state president further said that as a pioneer member of a new political party, his quest is to attain mastery in the domain of politics and leadership.
“Masters stand out in their ability to stay true to their earliest awakenings. My learnings are a summation of my consistent interactions with my people,” he observed.
