NEW DELHI: AICC observer and Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, Vayalar Ravi, and general secretary Mukul Wasnik who arrived here back on Saturday night met party president Sonia Gandhi and submitted their report about the political developments in Meghalaya in the wake of the party storming back to power.
Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma also arrived here later and was waiting for an appointment with the AICC president to discuss about formation of the new ministry and filling up other constitutional posts like that of the Speaker.
Former Union Minister and MP from Shillong, Vincent H Pala, also arrived here to attend the ongoing Parliament session. He, however, is going back to Shillong for the swearing-in ceremony of the new ministry.
Mukul’s meeting with Sonia assumes significance since under his leadership the Congress could come back to power with a record number of 29 seats in Meghalaya although it could not wrest power in neighbouring Nagaland and Tripura where it lost miserably.
