SHILLONG, March 15: The Education department has rejected the demand of the Federation of All School Teachers of Meghalaya (FASToM) to include ad hoc schools under deficit pattern /deficit system, citing shortage of funds.
Talking to reporters, FASToM president on Tuesday informed that the Secretary of Education department, Ambrose Ch Marak, has informed that the government has come up with an increment offer of Rs 18,000 on the salaries of the ad hoc teachers of Meghalaya.
According to him, the increment will apply to the ad hoc school teachers in the Higher Secondary and those teaching Science subject at the secondary, assistant teacher (both the upper primary and lower primary) and teachers who are teaching Hindi subject. “Following this decision, the state government will spend Rs 145 annually for payment of the salaries of the ad hoc schools. The state government will incur an additional expenditure of Rs 13 crore,” the FASToM president said.
He said that the state government has also been asked to pay higher salaries for headmaster, headmistress and principal since their responsibilities are more.
