City author’s book translated in Urdu

SHILLONG, March 20: A Shillong-based writer, Salil Gewali’s book – Great Minds on India — has again been translated, this time in Urdu by a noted writer of Kolkata, Dr Anwar Rafiq.
The book will soon be published and circulated by ‘Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Foundation’ of the state of West Bengal, a social welfare and literary organisation. Gewali’s research-based book has been translated into 13 languages, including German and won the appreciation from scholars from across the globe.
Prefaced by a NASA chief scientist, Dr Kamlesh Lulla of Houston, USA, the title has been officially approved for translation into Kannada, Punjabi and Assamese languages by the governments of Karnataka, Punjab and Assam.
Great Minds on India showcases the thoughts and opinions of world-renowned writers, philosophers and scientists such as François Voltaire, Arthur Schopenhauer, Fredrich Hegel, Johann Goethe, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Mark Twain, Niels Bohr, Heisenberg, to name a few, on the ancient wisdom of India.
First published in Xerox format in the year 1998, the book in regular printed format was brought out by Academic Publication in 2009 which was formally launched by the then Governor of Meghalaya, RS Mushahary.
The translated editions of the book in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati and Bengali were subsequently launched by the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Governors of Maharashtra, Gujarat and West Bengal.
