SHILLONG: Though the expansion of the Nongmynsong road is nearing its completion, but the electric polls located on the road are yet to be removed.
Cabinet Minister and Pynthorumkhrah legislator Al Hek recently said that he will soon have a meeting with the MeECL to chalk out the problems and remove the electric polls.
“The black topping is being done but the electric polls need to be removed as some of it are right on the middle of the road,” he said.
The Road expansion work from Lai-lad-Nongmynsong to Nongmynsong Bazar has came to a halt due to the electrical polls in the stretch which remain to be shifted.
The road’s width, from Lai-lad-Nongmynsong to Nongmynsong Bazar, is being expanded by an additional 10.5 meters from its current width of 10 meters. The project, covering road length of about 1 km, has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 1 crore.
Usually, for shifting of one pole, MeECL charges about Rs 12,000 – 16,000.
