SHILLONG: Home Minister Roshan Warjri will visit Garo Hills shortly to take stock of the ‘ground realities’ before taking a call on the mechanism to address the root cause of the militancy problem in the region.
“My top priority would be to study and understand the ground reality on the militancy problem in Garo Hills. I would also hold discussion with Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on the best possible mechanism to address the root cause of militancy,” Warjri told reporters here on Sunday.
While expressing her concern on the pain and difficulties faced by the people due to militancy in Garo Hills, the State’s first woman Home Minister said it is her duty to work hard to usher in lasting peace in the region.
Earlier, Wajri said that the Government would set up fast-track courts in the State to deal with heinous crimes, including crimes against women.
