SHILLONG: The West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi has denied the reports that State Civil Services officers were made to participate and ‘supervise’ in the Congress’ felicitation programme for Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma and his cabinet colleagues in Tura on Monday.

On reports that some officers were allegedly stationed at the circuit house to oversee the dinner party for the dignitaries, Bakshi said the Chief Minister was reviewing the Integrated Basin Development & Livelihood Promotion Programme and accordingly all the line departments were asked to come with their reports.

“Later, the Chief Minister invited the officers for a dinner and nobody was forced to join. Besides, the circuit house has its own staff to take care of everything,” Bakshi said. “The Chief Minister is always accompanied by an ADM level officer. I give the written orders for that since we have to make sure that there is full-proof security for the CM,” he added.
