SHILLONG: The Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) on Sunday expressed its disapproval of the late working hours being forced upon bank officials and employees of several government offices, especially women, on account of the financial year ending.

“This is harassment in the work place and it is because of the incompetence and inefficiency of the successive governments which has made this into a habit every financial year,” CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said.

Alleging that there are the “corrupt who do not mind the work as they are make blind bills for which they are bribed,” Kharshiing said “in the process the government servants are made to sit up late too.”

Kharshiing also alleged that ‘blind bills’ were issued in the PHE department.

“The CSWO will take up with the DGP to inquire into the matter and take strong action against the corrupt officials,” she said.

Meanwhile, the CSWO president also took exception of the fact that “there was no consideration for an important religious celebration of Easter.”

The CSWO also urged the government to bring out a notification that there should be no taxing of its employees beyond a specific time and that all departments should not entertain blind bills.
