SHILLONG: Just weeks after the State government released the salary of the primary school teachers, the higher secondary adhoc teachers under the banner of Khasi Jaintia Higher Secondary Adhoc Teachers’ Association (KJHSATA) has stepped forward to demand for the same while threatening to go for an indefinite strike on the issue.

The KJHSATA has demanded the release of their salary pending since January 2013 by April 10 failing which, they will be compelled to call off the evaluation of the HSSLC answer scripts and resort to an indefinite strike.

“Over the years, the State government has put the prerequisite norms that without agitation programmes, teachers’ rights could not be realised”, KJHSATA general secretary Sainbor J Lyngdoh said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.

The KJHSATA has called upon the other teachers’ associations, the NGOs and the general public to support their cause.
