SHILLONG: The Meghalaya State Commission for Women has expressed satisfaction over the action taken by the District Administration, concerned department and NGOs for doing their bit for protecting the rights of the Williamnagar rape victim. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the MSCW said, “Efforts must be made by one and all to see that vested interests do not destroy the social fabric of our society.”

According to MSCW, the president and secretary of Peoples Movement for Democratic Rights has denied the involvement in handling the case and Jaynie Sangma is only an ordinary member who took initiative at a personal level without the knowledge of the organisation.

The MSCW also condemned the telecast in Frontier TV where the victim had to narrate the horrific experience.
