Adeyemi joins Dortmund after Haaland’s City move
DORTMUND, May 11: Erling Haaland out, Karim Adeyemi in. Borussia Dortmund completed a busy day of transfer activity on Tuesday by signing Germany forward Adeyemi from Austrian champion Salzburg to soften the blow of losing its star player to Manchester City. Dortmund and City said earlier Tuesday that they had agreed in principal to a transfer for the 21-year-old Haaland on July 1, subject to the player agreeing personal terms. The Bundesliga club then said the 20-year-old Adeyemi signed a contract through June 2027 after completing a medical examination earlier in the day. Sebastian Kehl, who will take over from Zorc next season, noted that Adeyemi was a Dortmund fan in his youth and that he decided to sign for the club despite “several offers from Europe’s top leagues.” (AP)

Tvesa Malik set to lead team at Bangkok Aramco Series
BANGKOK, May 11: Tvesa Malik will be shouldering the responsibility of being the captain as she aims for a good show at the USD 1 million Aramco Team Series – Bangkok, starting Thursday. The Aramco Team Series is like two competitions rolled into one – a $500,000 team competition, where an amateur joins a team of three professionals and a 54-hole individual competition. It will be played over the next three days at the Thai Country Club. In the team draft on Tuesday evening, ranked 334th in the world, Malik opted for the Switzerland’s Nobuhle Dlamini, ranked 429th in the world, and Anais Maggetti completed her team through random draw. AAI get Rs 1 cr SAI grant to host Para Asian Archery meet
NEW DELHI, May 11: The Sports Authority of India on Wednesday sanctioned Rs 1 crore to the Archery Association of India as a financial grant for the upcoming Asian Para Archery Championships. The meet, slated from May 31 to June 6 at Yamuna Sports Complex, was awarded to India after its original hosts Kazakhstan pulled out citing organisational issues because of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. “The grant, which would be non-recurring in nature, can be utilised for boarding, lodging, transportation, rent of playfields, cost of the equipment, prize money, hosting and competition sanction fee, and event insurance among others,” SAI said.
