SHILLONG, May 13: The state government has approached the NTA for creation of more centres for students interested in appearing for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), 2022, Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui said on Friday.
Talking to reporters, Rymbui said as per the notification of the National Testing Agency or NTA, there will be three centres in the state – Shillong, Jowai and Tura.
“But we feel that more examination centres should be set up in the best interest of the students,” he said.
He also lauded Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan for listening to the request of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and exempting colleges affiliated to the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) from the CUET.
The Union Education Ministry gave the exemption for the new academic session in view of the geographical conditions, far-flung locations, limited digital connectivity and infrastructure issues.
Rymbui, however, advised the students who have already applied for CUET to sit for the test. “Students from the state can get admission anywhere if their CUET rankings are good,” he added.
