As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency, District Project Management Unit of East Khasi Hills, will organise a debate competition at 1:30 pm on June 3 at the KJP Assembly Conference Hall, Shillong, tree plantation drive at 10:30 am on June 4 at Lai Kyntoit, Lum Nongkhlaw, Mylliem and another programme at 9:30 am on June 6 at Don Bosco Hall, Shillong.
Raids
The Office of the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Excise) conducted raids at restaurants and stalls in the town and its outskirts in April and seized 61.400 litre of illicitly distilled liquor and 1.700 litre of India-made foreign liquor. A total of 10 persons have also been arrested in this regard.
