Police seize drugs worth Rs 75L in RB

NONGPOH, July 27: In its ongoing crackdown on drugs, police in Ri-Bhoi confiscated heroin worth Rs 75 lakh from a bike-borne duo’s possession on Tuesday night.
According to police, a check point was set up at Byrnihat following the receipt of a tip-off that two persons were suspected to be transporting illegal contraband items.
It was following this, a bike (ML05R4704) was intercepted and during a subsequent check, Ri-Bhoi police recovered ten packets of heroin weighing 120 grams.
Following the seizure of the contraband items as well as the bike, the rider, identified as Shanborlang Khongwir, and the pillion rider Bandapkupar Mawlong were arrested.
