Inauguration
The Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department State Laboratory, the first state-level laboratory under PHE department to be accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories, was on Friday inaugurated by PHE Minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar in the presence of Chief Secretary RV Suchiang and other officials, at Mawiongrim, Shillong.

The Shillong Times first appeared as a tabloid weekly on 10th August 1945 under the editorship of Late Sudhindra Bhusan Chaudhuri. In 1958 it was converted to a Daily. Owing to financial constraints, within six months it reverted back to a weekly.
