SHILLONG, Aug 1: The state government has received a total of eight applications, two of them after cut-off date, in response to the expression of interest floated for acquisition of land for construction of a greenfield airport.
Advocate General Amit Kumar on Monday submitted before the High Court of Meghalaya that the state government is in the process of vetting the applications and ascertaining the nature of land offered to ascertain whether the same would be suitable for setting up a greenfield airport.
Observing that such an exercise may take some time, the court decided to defer the case by six weeks.
