JOWAI: Some JHADC MDCs are battling it out for the vacant post of Deputy Chief Executive Member and two other posts of Executive Members in the MB Rymbai-led Executive Committee.

JHADC sources informed that as many as six senior members are aspiring for the post of Deputy CEM due to which the JHADC chief has neither been able to appoint his deputy nor make any appointments to the two posts of Executive Members.

The source informed that former JHADC chief Hambertus Nongtdu, Qually Suiam, KM Lyttan, JU Nongrum, Amos Dkhar and Joinriwel Pyrtuh have staked their claim to the Deputy CEM’s post.

Sources also informed that some Congress MLAs from Jaintia Hills also are interfering in the appointment of the Deputy CEM and the two EMs.

Sources said that these MLAs are lobbying for the MDCs of their respective Assembly constituencies to be appointed as Deputy CEM or Executive Members.

Khliehtyrshi- Amwi MDC, Madonbai Rymbai, was elected the Chief Executive member (CEM) of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) at a special session summoned by Governor RS Mooshahary on April 5, but even after more than a month, the JHADC is functioning without a Deputy CEM and a full strength Executive Committee.
