Group resolves to stage dharna during Parl session

SHILLONG, Oct 29: Extending their full support to the demand for Garoland, the National Federation for New State (NFNS) on Saturday resolved to stage a two-day dharna during the winter session of the Parliament, tentatively in December, to raise the demand.
“In December, coinciding with the winter session of the Parliament, we will be holding a two-day dharna-cum-meeting in Delhi and all the constituent of NFNS and every other organisation that is part of us will bring their delegation. We will have a sizeable number and we will raise our demand in Delhi to remind the leadership about the genuine demand and take it forward,” said NFNS president Munish Tamang.
Maintaining that the NFNS had earlier attended the rally organised in Tura to demand for Garoland, Tamang said the organisation extends its complete support to the demand for Garoland which has remained long-pending.
The different constituents of NFNS demanding separate state also took part in the rally and the meeting besides president of Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) KP Pangniang, former CEM of GHADC, PK Sangma, former Deputy CEM Augustine R Marak, assistant general secretary of Indigenous People Front of Tripura, Charan Noatia and others.
Earlier during the day, a rally was held in Tura which was organised by the Garoland statehood demand committee which was attended by thousands of people.
