SHILLONG, Jan 20: The NPP has dismissed the AICC warning that the BJP would soon swallow the former as it has done to several regional parties in other states.
NPP State president WR Kharlukhi said: “We will see whether they (BJP) swallow us or we (NPP) swallow them.” He was confident that it would be the other way round.
AICC media coordinators Bobbeeta Sharma and Matthew Anthony had stated on Thursday that the BJP penetrated Assam by riding piggyback on the AGP and almost swallowed it later and the NPP will have a similar fate in Meghalaya.
“Meghalaya is unlike any other state,” Kharlukhi said, making it clear that the Congress was making such statements just to make their presence felt in Meghalaya.
