SHILLONG, Feb 6: People’s Democratic Front (PDF) working president, Banteidor Lyngdoh has predicted a fractured mandate in the state.
Lyngdoh, who is contesting from Mawkynrew and seeking re-election for a second term, said Meghalaya has a history of coalition governments. He expressed optimism that the PDF will end up winning seven to eight seats.
The former PDF chief, who is also the Sports and Agriculture Minister, said Meghalaya is a small state and corruption in the system has to be eliminated.
He said people will say many things but the works he, as a minister, accomplished for the farmers and sportspersons speak volumes.
“One of the achievements was the Meghalaya Games, organised after many years. We had successfully organised the North East Olympic and no one ever thought the state will be able to hold such a mega sports event,” Lyngdoh said.
Meanwhile, he said he is a 100 per cent confident of his re-election given the love and support he is getting from his supporters and people. He said he gave his best to serve the people of his constituency in the past five years.
