WGH DEO notice to voters without EPIC

TURA, Feb 7: In pursuance of the Election Commission of India’s order, the West Garo Hills District Election Officer has said that those electors who are unable to produce the EPIC can produce one of the photo identity documents for establishing their identity.
The documents are Aadhar card, MNREGA job card, passbook with photograph issued by bank/post office, health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Driving License, PAN card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, Indian passport, pension document with photograph, service identity card with photograph issued to employees by central/state government/PSUs/public limited companies, official identity card issued to MPs, MLAs, MLCs and Unique Disability ID (UDID) card, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
The order also mentioned that in case of EPIC, clerical errors, spelling mistakes should be ignored provided the identity of the electors can be established by the EPIC.
If an elector produces an EPIC which has been issued by the Electoral Registration Officer of another Assembly constituency, such EPIC would also be accepted for identification provided the name of the elector finds place in the electoral roll pertaining to the polling station where the elector has turned up for voting.
If it is not possible to establish the identity of the elector or account of mismatched of photograph, etc., the electors will have to produce one of the aforementioned alternative photo documents.
