BSF seizes India, Bangladesh currencies along int’l border

SHILLONG, Feb 25: Troops of Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier on Friday launched two operations near the Indo-Bangladesh border in East Khasi Hills, and confiscated Indian and Bangladesh currencies near the international border.
According to a statement here, the BSF personnel deployed in Nayabazar area, after detecting suspicious movements on both sides of the border fence, immediately launched an operation.
“Upon being challenged by BSF, miscreants fled away, taking advantage of darkness, thick vegetation and undulating ground,” the statement said.
On searching the area, the BSF personnel recovered a bag containing Bangladesh Taka worth 18 lakh.
In a similar incident, BSF troops in Ryngku area of East Khasi Hills seized Indian currency worth Rs 3.12 lakh along the international border.
