Prohibition
The East Khasi Hills District Magistrate has indefinitely prohibited the use of Chinese manjha/nylon/glass-coated/synthetic thread, used for flying kite, in the district, while warning action against the violators. According to a statement, the order was necessitated is “as it poses serious threat to humans and environment.” “Since several accidents have taken place in the past due to the use of such threads, the manufacturer, sale, storage and use of Chinese manjha/nylon/glass-coated/synthetic is also prohibited for kite flying,” the statement said.

Notification
The Transport department has informed that the seating capacity for buses, sumos and maxi cabs, local taxis, auto-rickshaws and two-wheelers, which was prescribed in view of COVID-19, has been reverted to the original seating capacity as per the Motor Vehicles Act for all categories of vehicles subject to strict compliance of COVID protocols. A statement in this regard also informed that the fares for different categories of vehicles have also been reverted to the fares, which were notified prior to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Holiday
All state government offices, revenue and magisterial courts and educational institutions in East Khasi Hills will remain closed on April 10 on account of Shad Suk Mynsiem.

Relocation
The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Regional Office Shillong, has been shifted from Police Point, Laitumkhrah, to the second floor at GMTD BSNL Office, Barik Point.
