SHILLONG, April 8: The diamond jubilee celebrations of the HQ 101 Area Shillong will begin on Sunday with a motorcycle expedition across the Northeast.
According to a statement here, the motorcycle expedition will be flagged off at 10:30 am from Rhino Training Complex by Governor Phagu Chauhan.
Meanwhile, the HQ 101 Area Shillong will also celebrate its 60 years of raising on April 23.
“The formation was raised on 22nd April, 1963, for logistics support across entire Northeastern region in the wake of 1962 operations, and has the unique distinction of taking part in active combat despite being a logistics formation with its crowning glory being the first of Indian Forces to enter Dacca in 1971 war, earning it the sobriquet- ‘First in Dacca’,” the statement said.
