Tree falls on house in Ri-Bhoi, kills 15-year-old

NONGPOH, April 11: Tragedy struck a house in Umling, Ri-Bhoi, Monday evening as a giant tree fell on it and killed a 15-year-old boy besides injuring three others. The boy has been identified as Banijied Hasdah, a student of Class X in St. Francis School, Umling.
According to sources, the roots of the tree had decayed which resulted in its fall despite there being no strong winds.
The impact of the tree caused severe damage to the property.
On being informed, Ri-Bhoi police rushed to the spot.
The injured individuals were then transported to the hospital for medical treatment, and the deceased was taken to Civil Hospital Nongpoh for post-mortem examination.
