Women’s body to pursue Ri-Bhoi girl’s mysterious death in Rajasthan hostel

Shillong, May 2: The Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) has expressed shock and concern over the mysterious death of Walinda Binong at her hostel in Sikar district of Rajasthan and asserted that the commission will do all within its powers to ensure that a proper investigation of the case is carried out and timely justice is delivered.
In a statement, MSCW member secretary VH Blah condoled the death of the 19-year-old student and said that the death of any young person or any young woman is a tragedy beyond measure.
“What is deeply concerning is the circumstance surrounding the series of events that led to the loss of a young life. This incident underscores the abuses experienced by woman and girls, on a daily basis,” she said.
It may be mentioned that the tragic death of Walinda in questionable circumstances has left her family and the community in shock with demands being raised for a thorough investigation into the incident.
Hundreds of people from Nongagang Marngar village gathered to mourn her sudden death and attended her cremation.
Walinda’s father, Ruby Binong has claimed that there were injury marks on her feet and the ligature marks on her neck did not seem like she had hanged herself, but it appeared as if someone had forcefully put marks by rubbing a rope on her neck. He also claimed that her finger bones were fractured, implying that she might have killed by someone and was struggling for her life before her death.
The family has demanded a CBI investigation to unearth the truth behind her death.
