SHILLONG, May 6: After PDF merger with the NPP, the ruling party is now reaching out to other political parties including the BJP offering them to merge with the NPP.
Informing this, NPP national vice president and Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, said, “I am expecting more and we are reaching out to every party if they can merge (with the NPP)”.
He said that “the doors of NPP are always open so we reach out to every party why not follow suit as PDF and please merge with us.”
Asked about the UDP and BJP, he said, “It (the proposition) includes everybody even BJP also”.
Replying to a query if such a merger would be possible, he said, “Whether possible or not, it is our duty to reach out to all the political parties.”
The NPP with the merger of the PDF has 28 seats in the House of 60.
It may be recalled that the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) general conference had on Friday unanimously resolved to merge with the NPP.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by party president and Sohra MLA, Gavin Miguel Mylliem in the presence of party working president and Mawkynrew MLA Banteidor Lyngdoh, senior leaders and members of the general conference, central executive committee, zonal committee, district committee and the primary committee.
