GAYA/PATNA: A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the July 7 BodhGaya serial blasts on Sunday quizzed three suspects, two of whom have been specially brought to BodhGaya from Darbhanga while the third suspect is a local tourist guide.
After an hourlong quizzing, the young man from Bodh Gaya was let off. The suspects from Darbhanga are likely to be quizzed on Monday too. The two suspects brought from Darbhanga for quizzing by the NIA team hail from Manigachi police station area. The duo has been identified as Farooq and Shashi Ranjan. They were summoned by the NIA through the Darbhanga police. They were asked by the NIA to be present at the Darbhanga Senior SP’s office at a particular time and date. The two suspects complied with the NIA directive, and were brought to Bodh Gaya.
The duo, according to sources, figured on the NIA radar on the basis of the analysis of call details of the period preceding and following the blasts. One of the two Darbhanga men is said to be a mobile phone dealer while the other suspect is a stage performer.
Sources made it clear that the two men have not been arrested and their fate will be determined on the basis of the assessment of the NIA team about their involvement/innocence. Till the time of going to press, it could not be ascertained if the three made any significant revelation during their grilling.
The NIA sleuths have so far quizzed dozens of suspects, including Vinod Mistri, the first suspect whose identity card was recovered from the blast site. (PTI)
