Mrunal Thakur to receive diversity in cinema award at Indian film festival of Melbourne

Shillong, August 4: Actress Mrunal Thakur will be honored with the esteemed Diversity in Cinema Award at the upcoming Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. This recognition celebrates her exceptional performances across diverse roles and languages in Indian cinema.

“Grateful for the award”, Mrunal expressed her humbleness and belief in the power of storytelling that transcends linguistic and cultural boundaries. As an artist, she has always sought to explore a wide spectrum of characters, and this accolade inspires her to continue pushing boundaries and taking up challenging and inspiring roles.

IANS reported that the Diversity in Cinema Award will be presented to Mrunal during the festival’s anticipated annual gala award night on August 11. This recognition comes as she marks a significant milestone in her career – one year of successful ventures into South Indian cinema.

Mrunal’s versatility shines through her impactful portrayal of Sonia in ‘Love Sonia’ and her captivating performance as Sita Mahalakshmi in her debut Telugu film. Her cinematic journey has crossed linguistic barriers, with notable contributions in Hindi, Telugu, and Marathi cinema. She has also impressed in acclaimed OTT projects such as “Ghost Stories” and “Lust Stories 2.”

Her remarkable rise in the southern film industry includes sharing screen space with Dulquer Salmaan. Mrunal’s journey continues with exciting projects in the pipeline, collaborating with names like Nani and Vijay Deverakonda, solidifying her position as one of the leading actresses in South Indian cinema.
