NEW DELHI, Aug 8: The Meghalaya government has entered into an agreement with the Reliance General Insurance to provide an insurance cover of Rs 5.30 lakh to about seven lakh families on a floater basis in convergence with PMJAY.
The company will be implementing the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) and the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) phase 6.
The state government has decided to review the health benefits package and other terms in the insurance contract of MHIS 6. It has now decided to implement a revised MHIS 6 scheme in convergence with PMJAY, providing an insurance cover of Rs 5.30 lakh for all eligible beneficiaries on a family floater basis, according to official sources.
Floater basis means the entire family will be considered as one for Rs 5.30 lakh insurance. PMJAY covers Rs 5 lakh for such health insurance.
The Reliance GI has secured the contract for the implementation of MHIS and the AB-PMJAY-Phase 6 in Meghalaya. This contract will provide comprehensive health insurance coverage that will meet their secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation, outpatient care, diagnostic tests, and follow-up care.
The company will also leverage its digital capabilities and innovative solutions to ensure smooth and hassle-free enrolment, claim settlement, and grievance redressal for the beneficiaries.
Rakesh Jain, CEO of Reliance General Insurance, said, “We firmly believe that with the help of this contract, we will be supporting the state in bridging the much-needed gap of quality healthcare within the region, while increasing health insurance awareness and strengthening our foothold in the Northeast region.”
