Shillong, August 15: In his Independence Day speech before the 2024 general election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s women-led development approach, poverty reduction efforts, and a growing middle class.

As per India Today, speaking from the Red Fort, Modi expressed solidarity with Manipur and expressed confidence in India’s development by 2047. He guaranteed that the nation would rise among the world’s top economies within five years, driven by a declining poverty rate and a strengthening middle class.

Promising to address “three evils,” Modi committed to fighting corruption, ending dynasty politics, and countering appeasement. He underscored the potential of India’s demography, democracy, and diversity to realize national dreams. Notably, he lauded women’s empowerment through self-help groups and aspired to create two crore ‘lakhpati didis’ (wealthy sisters).

Modi also highlighted the contributions of women in various fields, from civil aviation to space exploration. The Prime Minister credited a peaceful atmosphere for facilitating development, noting improvements in security.
