SHILLONG: Like every time, users in the social networking site Facebook upload posts which sometimes lead to rumours and this time too, some users in Facebook have uploaded comments about the Inner Line Permit (ILP) where users are seen giving hatred and communal feedbacks.

East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang while talking about the trend said that the police was keeping a track on Facebook to ensure that vested interests do not use the platform to spread rumours apart from inciting hatred.

It is seen that a community has also been set up in the Facebook which goes by the name, ‘ILP-Inner Line Permit in Meghalaya’, adding many individual upload posts about ILP where users use all kind of words to express their feedbacks.

According to Kharkrang, there are many sections of the law where users can be arrested for giving hatred or communal views on the social website.

He informed that the police had no problems as long as users chat and do surfing which does not result in spread of rumour.

The SP stated that the police have earlier arrested few people for propagating HNLC page through the social website.
